Exciting news! I've been asked to make a BBC Radio 4 programme about The Alcoholic's Tarot and I'm looking for people in addiction recovery to take part.
A Day of Play, Reflection & Recovery
Kate McCoy, artistic director of small performance adventures, is embarking on a week-long residency in Anita’s Room at Brighton Dome to experiment, play, and explore new creative ideas. As part of this residency, Kate and I invite you to join us on Tuesday 1st April for a special event: "Foolishness, Fallibility & The Alcoholic’s Tarot."
The Power of The Fool
April Fool’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate foolishness – not as something to be ashamed of, but as something to explore, embrace, and learn from. In the tarot, The Fool is the first card of the deck, symbolising beginnings, uncertainty, and stepping into the unknown. What can The Fool teach us about recovery, risk, and renewal?
This day of creative play and shared learning is open to anyone in recovery – no prior knowledge of tarot (or anything else) is needed. Together, we’ll experiment with storytelling, performance, and collective wisdom, culminating in a collaborative exploration of The Alcoholic’s Tarot – a project that considers how tarot’s archetypes resonate with experiences of addiction and recovery.
A Collaboration Between Art & Recovery
This event is a collaboration with small performance adventures, part of a broader practice of making performances, workshops, and events with people whose lives have been shaped by significant experiences. small performance adventures is currently working with people in recovery, creating spaces for exploration, creativity, and connection.
Parts of the day, and the individual "Alcoholic Misfortunes" I will be reading, will be audio recorded and potentially be used for a programme to be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 this Autumn. You can come along and not be included in the programme, just let me know.

PLACES ARE FREE BUT LIMITED AS THIS WILL BE A SMALL GROUP:
